Wow, May is here, and that means the first quarter of the year has already passed! It sounds so clichéd to talk about how fast time is moving. Normally I feel quite aware of how I’m spending my time, but every now and then it sneaks up on me. Which really is the universe telling me to slow down and reflect; to find joy in what has been working, and really look at what is proving to be a challenge.

So with the advent of this new month, I thought it would be nice to share with you some of what I’m thankful for, in the hopes that you are thankful for them as well, or encouraged to try something new.

My short and sweet grateful list:

◊  my funny, clever, handsome man…  ◊  …who makes me cheese toast whenever I want it  ◊  good, strong coffees  ◊  trying new dishes out for our dinner  ◊  being able to share my passion for dance with others    playing with handlettering and typography  ◊  dates with my girlfriends  ◊  new pink lipsticks  ◊  having deep and meaningful conversations about life  ◊  new books  ◊  being able to see the moon all year round from our apartment    taking the time to learn about things that interest me    shiny temporary tattoos  ◊  having friends over for nights of too much food and so much laughter   music. always.    reorganising our bedroom, so it feels fresh and open    sunsets  ◊  unsubscribing from overwhelming emails and blogs (so much breathing space)  ◊  watching fun movies  ◊  planning our Thailand trip  ◊  dreaming and planning the future

I would love to hear what you are grateful for! Let me know below what is lighting you up at the moment. Remember, joy is potent and catching..

autumn treasures

As I write this, I am watching the sun break through the rain clouds, and listening to the magpies sing to each other after the storm. Autumn is well and truly here in Australia!

Last weekend was Easter, and traditionally my family has given each other new pyjamas, or other warm, cuddly items as opposed to mountains of chocolate. The idea is that then you have something new to wear in the coming cool months. This year my Mum also bought me a beautiful colouring in book to while away the winter hours.

So with this in mind, I thought it would be fun to share with you some snuggly and fun items from around the internet that I am tempted to buy for my loved ones (or myself).. Sending you all love and light for your weekend!

april showers

April always marks the start of cold weather for me in Australia. It’s the time of year that actually starts to feel like autumn. Sunshiney days, chilly nights and mornings, rainy weekends. I think it’s such a beautiful month. We are travelling to Canberra for the Easter long weekend, and Canberra always has the most amazing autumn leaves.

As always for the start of the month, I had a blast looking for beautiful pieces that represent the coming weeks the best. I hope you love this month’s collection as much as I do!

Have a happy and light April lovelies!

the power of music

There is probably a really in-depth, exploratory post with that title. It’s a strong title. I’m sure there is even a TedX video on it around the interwebs. Yet for me, that promising blog post title can be summed up in the most simple of ways… Music brings people together.

I am a dance teacher, and I play this song in nearly every one of the beginner classes I teach. If we’re being real here, it is not a masterpiece. It is not literary genius, and it is actually probably offensive to some. But every single time I play this in class, every person taking that class actually. starts. dancing. And if they’re really new to dance classes, they might even smile!

This song is fun. So fun. My students love it – everyone aged from 19 through to late 50s. And there is power in that. There is power in bringing a group of strangers together, helping them to realise that this is awesome, and they are awesome, and that nobody is judging them. There is a huge amount of satisfaction for me in being able to create a place where new partnerships feel comfortable enough to laugh with each other over how ridiculous the song is, or how excited I am over them doing something as simple (and complex) as dancing.

If you ever come to one of my dance classes in Sydney, I promise to play it for you. If you can’t make it to a class of any sort anywhere, blast it over your speakers at home; feel how easily your body moves to it, and how easily that smile comes 🙂

marching on..

Hello lovelies! 2015 is flying on by, and the fact that we’re already into March is pretty amazing. This year has already been filled with so many blessings and challenges. I am trying to open myself up to new opportunities, and focus on building a more heart-centred life – so I am very excited to see what the coming months bring!

Below is a little round up of some gift ideas for your loved ones for March. I hope you enjoy them!

one. March is named after the Roman god of war, Mars (Mars printed galaxy dress by Shadowplaynyc)
two. The birthstone for March is the beautiful Aquamarine stone (Aquamarine bracelet from earthwatersol)
three. Pisces is the main zodiac sign for March (Pisces constellation temporary tattoo by TTTattoodotcom)
four. The daffodil is March’s birth flower (Abstract daffodil case from ellebeetree)

And because March is the month of St Patrick’s Day celebrations, it seems only fitting to end this post with an Irish blessing to carry you through. Be well!

seeking inspiration

Occasionally I find it hard to get motivated in life. And when that happens, I usually go on an internet-binge, searching for beautifully created and inspiring messages. Given I am feeling a bit flat at the moment, I thought you guys might like to read some of these as well! I hope they help make change, make you think, make you smile. Enjoy lovelies!

saturday singalong

Hello wonderful people! I thought it was time to share another song that gets a lot of plays in my iTunes. I first fell in love with this song after I heard it on the movie Doc Hollywood (Michael J. Fox; be still, my beating heart). Thinking back, I had no opinion on country music before this, so the lovely Patsy Cline is probably responsible for opening my heart to this genre back then.

This is the song that gets stuck in my head for no reason. This is the song I sing to myself when I’m driving and don’t feel like listening to the radio. It is beautiful and heartbreaking, all at the same time. I hope you love it…

Enjoy the sunshine, the weekend, or whatever moment you find yourself in as you read this! Sending you love and light..
